Dr. Fritz Yohn

CEO and Founder

"The very quantity and diversity of the data available to the insurance industry today acts as a barrier to sound decision-making. And yet absolutely vital business intelligence lies buried in that morass of numbers. My vision, and really what drives our business, is the conviction that, with the right approach, this vital intelligence can be presented to our clients in a way they can very immediately and easily apply to their business problems."

Fritz is the Founder of MarketStance. In addition to his role as Chief Executive, Fritz serves as the lead engineer for the company's information and analytical efforts. He invented the system of mathematical and statistical techniques at the heart of the MarketStance products. A seasoned economist and a talented statistician completely at home with the latest statistical methods, Fritz also has a deep understanding of the insurance industry.

Fritz has served as Senior Vice President in Conning & Company's MarketStance division and has held positions in insurance research and financial economics at Aetna Life & Casualty. He has served as an adjunct faculty member in Trinity College's Economics Department and was a Senior Economist at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in Washington, D.C. This experience in the Federal government gives Dr. Yohn an intimate knowledge of government data sources - their strengths and limitations-which further enhances the capabilities of MarketStance.

In addition to undergraduate degrees in Metallurgy and Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr. Yohn received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Economics from Princeton University. He has been published in both economics and insurance journals.

Jim Hearn

"The key to business unit planning resulting in actionable reports and plans is quality information…and MarketStance’s information is more complete, accurate and timelier than anything a carrier or broker can assemble on their own.”

“The same information that took my team at Continental Insurance five-to-ten business days to research, vet and format can be completed in less than an hour.  In addition, the ease of distributing data and reports through the Web is a resource that should be seen by every executive responsible for distribution and marketing.”

As MarketStance’s Chief Marketing Officer, Jim is responsible for Business Development through strategic partners, managing the Sales organization, managing the Client Services organization, product positioning and Marketing Communications.  Jim originally began with MarketStance in 2005 in a sales capacity then left in 2008 while functioning as the CMO before returning in 2011. An entrepreneur, Jim has worked in the information and financial services industries since 1981 with over 25 years of senior leadership and demonstrated expertise in creating strategies and tactical go-to-market plans growing revenue and profits by identifying, selling and managing sales, client relationships and strategic alliances in diverse operating environments…mainstream, start-up and turnaround situations.
